<!-- ================================ NOTES -->
<refsect1 id="notes"><title>Notes</title>
<para>
The unsigned 64-bit values returned can be used to measure the time in nano-seconds consumed
by OpenCL commands.
</para>
<para>
OpenCL devices are required to correctly track time across changes in device frequency and
power states. The <constant>CL_DEVICE_PROFILING_TIMER_RESOLUTION</constant> specifies the resolution of
the timer i.e. the number of nanoseconds elapsed before the timer is incremented.
</para>
<para>
Event objects can be used to capture profiling information that measure execution time of a
command. Profiling of OpenCL commands can be enabled either by using a command-queue
created with CL_QUEUE_PROFILING_ENABLE flag set in <varname>properties</varname> argument to
<citerefentry><refentrytitle>clCreateCommandQueue</refentrytitle></citerefentry> or by setting the CL_QUEUE_PROFILING_ENABLE flag in <varname>properties</varname> argument to <citerefentry><refentrytitle>clSetCommandQueueProperty</refentrytitle></citerefentry>.
</para>

<!-- ================================ ERRORS -->
<refsect1 id="errors"><title>Errors</title>
<para>
<function>clGetEventProfilingInfo</function> returns <errorname>CL_SUCCESS</errorname> if the function is executed successfully and the profiling information has been recorded, returns <errorname>CL_PROFILING_INFO_NOT_AVAILABLE</errorname> if the <errorname>CL_QUEUE_PROFILING_ENABLE</errorname> flag is not set for the command-queue and if the profiling information is currently not available (because the command identified by <varname>event</varname> has not completed), returns <errorname>CL_INVALID_VALUE</errorname> if <varname>param_name</varname> is not valid, or if size in bytes
specified by <varname>param_value_size</varname> is less than the size of return type as described in the above table and <varname>param_value</varname> is not NULL, and returns <errorname>CL_INVALID_EVENT</errorname> if <varname>event</varname> is a not a valid event object.
