| a protocol may be deprecated, indicating that it should not be used by |
| new implementations, or even retired entirely, where it should not be |
| in use at all.</p> |

| cover the case where severe defects in an implementation |
| exist. For example, in the 802.11 arena, WEP would |
| be a protocol that should be <em>Retired</em>, as it is |
